Are you learning to sing or play guitar? Or maybe even both? What does it really take? Maybe you’re 3 weeks in or even 3 years in. Inevitably you will face some frustration. That is just par for the course.

So what do you do? You decide to keep going. You keep showing up. When you’re frustrated. When you’re feeling like you’re the only one who doesn’t ‘get it’…You keep working towards your goal.

It’s not easy, but it is simple. Is there a magic formula? Kind of. As the title of this blog states, it’s tenacity. It is the secret sauce. It’s what separates the ones who do learn to play and sing from the ones who wanted to but never do.

Tenacity might be the secret sauce to life too. Nothing we pursue is ever easy, but that’s just part of life.

Learning to Sing or Play? Keep Your Goal in Mind

This helps you prioritize your music in your daily life. Sounds simple but it is profound. If you can visualize yourself playing or singing the way you want to, you’re much more likely to get there.

If someone tells me to get out a notebook and start goal setting and planning out every second of my time, I’m going to tune out immediately.

But visualizing what it would feel like to be on a large stage singing and playing, really feeling those feelings, I can get behind. Or What it would feel like to sing or play the song you’re working on in a way that you’re really proud of.

When I was a teenager I would do this when falling asleep at night. All I wanted to do was to be a guitar player and a singer in a band. I thought about it constantly and would indeed fall asleep to feelings of what would that be like?

(I was in a band and traveling all over America playing within months of graduating high school.)  That made me a believer in visualization.

If you can really feel like what it would be like if you reach your goals, whether musical or otherwise, I believer you can get there. That’s what manifestation is all about.

Know that real life is different than online

Learning to sing or play is time consuming. That’s just real life. It’s easy to forget this when we’re watching videos online or scrolling endlessly.

We don’t see the guitarist with sore fingers and that feeling of frustration when they have to keep showing up and working towards

Decision is Powerful

In conclusion, when you decide what you will do there is not much that can stop you. Decision is so powerful. When you decide you will be a singer, or even better, you ARE a singer that become your truth.

You no longer identify with “I want to”, or “someday”. You now identify with, “I am” or “I will”. I’m obviously no psychologist or spiritual guru. I just know what I believe and what has worked for me.

That’s all I can teach. I obviously hav many more goals in life that I’d like to manifest. I’ll be working towards them. One of those goals is to help singers and guitar players on their musical journey, that’s why I’m writing this blog today.

I hope it helps you in some small way to know that you are powerful nd that you can create your goals musical or otherwise. But know that you can become that singer or player that you desire.

Picture what it would actually feel like everyday. Show up at your practice sessions whether you feel like it or not. Learn those Barre chords, learn to sing that Celine song that intimidates you.

You can do it! Remember, tenacity is the secret sauce!

All the Best,

Amy
